Colts hiring Ted Monachino as defensive coordinator

Chuck Pagano has chosen an old friend to fix the ' defense following of Greg Manusky. coach John Harbaugh announced Thursday that linebackers coach Ted Monachino is leaving Baltimore to accept the ' defensive coordinator position.Monachino has been the ' linebackers coach for the past six seasons, two of which were spent under then-coordinator Pagano.Well respected for his work with a string of productive linebackers such as , , , and former and , Monachino was a candidate for the defensive coordinator job that Chris Sale Jersey ultimately went to Billy Davis three years ago.There had been speculation in Baltimore that he would eventually succeed Dean Pees as coordinator.Monachino will be charged with turning around a defense that has lacked toughne s in big games during the Pagano era.Owner Jim Irsay conceded at Monday night's pre s conference that the roster is in dire need of a youth movement.
