Dear fellow-countrymen,

Connected with the July cases the office of the Public Defender of the Chamber of Advocates received the 46-th decision, established by the bodies implementing criminal proceeding concerning to the display of legal help.According to the demands of the criminal procedural law of the office of the Public Defender of RA has taken immediate decision of handing the cases to public defenders.The Public Defender office of RA acted aiming the purpose of ensuring immediate qualified legal help to imprisoned persons.  

To the Public Defender were presented by the bodies realizing the proceeding 46 incarcerated persons, though, as it is known, the status of defenders they could get only after getting the agreement of the incarcerated. 40 persons gave their agreement and the Public defenders took them under their defense. No public defender has taken a person under his defense without the agreement of the latter. From the very first day of the Public Defender office establishment the system of being on duty was set upand in cases when there was a need of a public defender worked on non-working days and hours, according to the duty schedule. And after the July cases the public defenders worked in an extreme regime aiming to meet the incarcerated one hour beforehand in order to ensure the realization of their keeping silent and human treatment rights. Due to the participation of the public defenders the criminal prosecution of 10 persons had been breached and the incarcerated persons were freed.

At this moment public defenders continue the realization of 21 persons’ defense. : The public defenders acted and will act according to their affidavit, free and independent, without doubt and up to the end, defending their defendants with all means not prohibited by the law. 

No state body can influence the independence of the public defenders, interfere their working process. : The Public Defense office assures that is going to be logical to imply in every case a more effective and qualified defense and on finding any imperfections will render them into a subject of discussion. The Public Defense office is ready to implement the defense of any person who is in need of public defense.
