THE COMMANDMENT TO STAY AWAY FROM CORRUPTION REMAINS UNCHANGEABLE: ARA ZOHRABYAN’S ADVICE TO THE GRADUATES OF THE SCHOOL OF ADVOCATES

On the agenda of today’s, December 8, 2018 session of the Board of the Chamber of Advocates of RA was the matter of granting 51 graduates of the School of Advocates of RA with licenses.

The Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates Ara Zohrabyan, in his welcoming speech, congratulated the graduates on becoming advocates. He mentioned that the Chamber of Advocates has new hopes with every new phase of graduates. “You must protect your trustee's rights and legitimate interests with your bravery, persistence, and courage, and by that you’ll insure the exercise of everyone’s right to receive legal assistance guaranteed by the Constitution,” said Ara Zohrabyan.

Speaking about the importance of the School of Advocates, Ara Zohrabyan said that this is an important institution because during the learning here, besides knowledge and skills, the attendees also make a big circle of connections.

The Chairman of the Chamber spoke about the unacceptability of corruption in entering advocates’ community. He particularly said: “The commandment to stay away from corruption remains unchanged both today and during your professional career. Corruption is a great danger to our profession.”

The director of the School of Advocates Simon Babayan also congratulated the graduates by saying “You enter the community of advocates with great expectation. I congratulate you on passing through a rather complex educational process and succeeding it. It should be mentioned that we improve the learning process year by year as a result, educational barriers are created, thus we ensure academic justice.”

In his congratulatory speech, Karen Mezhlumyan, Deputy Chairman and member of the Board of the Chamber of Advocates, has mentioned that there are advocates in the courts, who are from the new generation and who are competent, reasonably prudent and trustworthy. According to him, the advocate should be maximum honest with his/her trustee. “I think that’s the guarantee of advocate’s success and reputation”, he has highlighted.

Member of the Board Sedrak Asatryan, considered the day historical because according to his words, 10 years ago we could not even imagine to have advocates of this quality. “Today one should be careful when entering an auditorium as a lecturer since the attendees are individuals who have passed a serious way. Our Georgian counterparts are reverently talking about our School of Advocates” he mentioned.

After welcoming and the words of gratitude, the graduates swore to execute advocates’ responsibilities honestly and consciously, to maintain the advocative secret, to protect the rights, freedoms and interests of trustees, guided by the Constitution, the laws and the Code of Conduct of the Advocate of the Republic of Armenia.
